چکیده
Abstract This study presents new data on the bi-absolutive construction in Chechen, a Nakh-Daghestanian language spoken northern Caucasus. The basic case frame transitive clause Chechen is ergative-absolutive. In progressive constructions with an auxiliary and simultaneous converb, alternates absolutive-absolutive – or construction. To assess factors conditioning this alternation, we use from two corpora (one of narratives one written newspaper articles) elicited native speakers using visual (video picture) stimuli. We discuss conditions relatively infrequent terms (in)animacy/humanness A argument, verb class, discourse-based factors, aspectual meaning. connect our results to existing studies other languages as well methodological challenges associated minority patterns under-resourced languages.

Constructions of bi-regular cages
Given three positive integers r,m and g, one interesting question is the following: What is the minimum number of vertices that a graph with prescribed degree set {r,m}, 2 ≤ r < m, and girth g can have? Such a graph is called a bi-regular cage or an ({r,m}; g)-cage, and its minimum order is denoted by n({r,m}; g). In this paper we provide new upper bounds on n({r,m}; g) for some related values ...
متن کاملClause combining in Chechen
Chechen exhibits three major strategies for the combination of clauses: coordination, chaining, and subordination. The major formal characteristics of these three traditional categories of clause linking are discussed with reference to their basic syntax and semantics as well as to more particular syntactic characteristics, including constituent order and behaviour with respect to negation and ...

15 صفحه اولPairs of bi-cubic surface constructions supporting polar connectivity
Surface constructions of polynomial degree (3,3) come in four flavours that complement each other: one pair extends the subdivision paradigm, the other the NURBS patch approach to free-form modeling. The first pair, Catmull-Clark (Catmull and Clark, 1978) and Polar subdivision (Karčiauskas and Peters, 2007) generalize bi-cubic subdivision: While Catmull-Clark subdivision is more suitable where ...
متن کاملDRAFT Basque spatial cases and the ergative - absolutive synchretism
This paper has as its aim to connect two seemingly disparate phenomena: the structure of Basque adpositional phrases and the synchretisms arising in plural DPs between ergative and absolutive arguments in some of the dialects of Basque. This synchretism, which can be found in western and central dialects of Basque, resolves in favour of absolutive marking, and has been taken to be the product o...
